Dr . Alex Parimalam
Media and Education Consultant
Dr. S. Alex Parimalam is a distinguished academic and media consultant with over two decades of experience. He served as an Assistant Professor in the Visual Communication Department at Loyola College for 20 years and now consults for higher education institutions, NGOs, government agencies, and corporates. As an Academic Coach for the School of Media Studies at Loyola College, he also served as Dean of Students between 2015-18 and 2020-24.
He was the Joint Director at Tamilnadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS) from 2008 to 2011, leading health campaigns like “Thillu Thura Nam Nalam Nam Kaiyil.” Previously, he was the Communication Manager at ADD India, supporting NGOs working for the empowerment of persons with disabilities.
Dr. Parimalam has collaborated with various organizations, including UNICEF, ILO, ActionAid, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Notably, he worked with UNICEF from 2013 to 2017 on projects like the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan and Swachh Bharat Mission. Recently, he trained 85 government officials from the Department of Rural Development under the “Vazhnthu Kattuvom Project.”
He has produced over 25 short and documentary films, with two receiving state and national awards. As an author, he has published novels and a book on development communication. Dr. Parimalam has conducted over 500 training programs across South India, focusing on leadership and communication, and is a pioneer in media education for school children. His expertise lies in photography, television production, scriptwriting, and development communication.
