The “1000 Plants Tree Plantation Project” is a fantastic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at transforming the Mappedu Urban Area in Thiruvallur District, Tamil Nadu, into a vibrant green corridor. This project, a joint effort between the Foundation for Education Empowerment & Economical Development (FEEED) and Foxconn Hon Hai Technology India Mega Development Pvt. Ltd., launched on May 25, 2026.

Our Vision
The project’s vision is to create a resilient, sustainable green environment that improves air quality, reduces urban heat, and promotes environmental stewardship in Mappedu.
Key Objectives:
- Enhance Green Cover: Expand green spaces through organized plantation frameworks.
- Multiphase Execution: Deploy 1,000 native saplings in phases with ongoing monitoring.
- Stakeholder Integration: Unite residents, youth, Panchayat officials, NGOs, and corporate teams to foster a collaborative ecosystem.
- Ensured Survival Rate: Implement protective fencing, tree guards, and maintenance protocols for long-term sapling survival.
Phase 1 Highlights (May 25, 2026):
- Inauguration Date: May 25, 2026
- Corporate Volunteers: Over 40 Foxconn employees participated.
- Saplings Planted: Approximately 100 native saplings were planted.
- Participation: The event saw great involvement from the corporate team, local youth, residents, and other community volunteers.
Pre-Phase Activities (May 12 – May 23, 2026):
- Strategic Planning & Vendor Sourcing: Mr. Jerome Selva Raj and FEEED teams evaluated nurseries and fabrication units in Chennai to secure high-quality saplings and durable safety fences.
- Site Inspection & Clearance: Mrs. Asha Suresh, along with coordinator Mr. Ilayaraja, mapped public avenues and road margins, coordinating with Panchayat officials to clear regulatory hurdles.
Community Impact:
- Environmental Benefits: The project aims to enhance air quality by filtering particulates and reduce the urban heat island effect.
- Social Empowerment: It engages local youth and community members, nurturing proactive ecosystem protectors.
- Corporate Engagement: Provides a hands-on CSR opportunity for Foxconn teams, aligning corporate goals with community welfare.
Maintenance Framework:
A structured maintenance framework is in place to ensure the long-term success of the plantation:
- Daily Hydration: Local Youth Volunteer Teams are responsible for structured watering cycles using designated municipal water taps.
- Fence & Guard Audits: Mappedu Resident Blocks inspect, realign, and fix damaged protective metallic structures or tags weekly.
- Growth Tracking: FEEED Expert Field Staff measure sapling health, evaluate soil moisture, and apply organic treatments monthly.
